University of Maine at Farmington President Kate Foster, a member of the Shiretown Bookers, will speak at the club’s monthly meeting about her collection on early motoring. The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in the UMF North Dining Hall. Refreshments will be served.

In this presentation, Foster combines affection for old books with her love of the open road. Except for being chased by a mangy dog along a rural lane in South Dakota, she hasn’t met a road trip she didn’t like.

The Shiretown Bookers, the Community Friends of UMF Mantor Library, provide exhibitions and lectures throughout the year toward the goal of fostering the relationship between the community and the university.
