TURNER — The Leavitt Father’s Day 5K will begin 9 a.m. Sunday, June 19, on the fields between the football field and track at Leavitt Area High School, 21 Matthews Way.

The race has been selected as the 2016 USATF Maine Trail Championships race. Anyone can participate in this race, but to be eligible for the USATF awards, participants must be current USATF members.

To register, visit Active.com. Proceeds will benefit the Leavitt cross country team.

A number of parent/child teams run the trail, and special prize drawings for parent-child teams are offered during the awards. The youngest running/walking the 5k year was 4. But there is also a kids’ fun run for the youngest crowd or young beginners and that involves the Leavitt Hornet and a visit on a firetruck as well.

Cost is $15 if pre-registered or $20 on race day for adults, free for 10 and younger if pre-registered or $5 on race day.

Prizes: $50 to first male and female to finish; medals for age group first- and second-place finishers; special raffle prizes for parent/child combinations; performance tees to first 100 registrants. Medal from the American Red Cross for the first veteran to cross the line.

Divisions are 10 and younger, 11-14,15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and older.
