Karin Zimba, a fifth grader at Waterville’s Albert Hall School, recently received a Legislative Sentiment from Maine Senate in Augusta. Sen. Scott Cyrway, R-Benton, presented Karin with the certificate for wining the Doodle 4 Google national art competition for the State of Maine and being voted as one of five national finalists.

The national Doodle 4 Google contest is open every year to students in grades K-12. Karin’s submission was one of five selected from more than 100,000 entries.

In recognition of becoming a national finalist, Google invited Karin to their headquarters in California. She also received a $5,000 scholarship and her school received a $2,500 grant to the art department.
