Old Fort Western, the 1754 National Historic Landmark fort, store and house museum on the Kennebec River in Augusta, has 1,027 cedar post available for public sale. These cedar posts from the 1988 palisade were removed as part of the Palisade Replacement Project and range in size from 8 to 12 feet in length, 4 to 10 inches in diameter and are ideal for raised garden beds and split rail fences. This is a first-come, first- serve cash and carry venture set for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays, May 7 and May 14.

Patrons will be responsible for removing their posts once purchased. Fees: one to four posts $5 each, five or more posts $4 each.

All funds raised will benefit Old Fort Western’s Special Event Programming.
