SCARBOROUGH – Three Maine fire departments will receive almost $600,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help pay for equipment and training.

The fire departments are located in Gardiner, Limestone and Scarborough. The money is from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program that is administered by FEMA. The program benefits fire departments and emergency medical service organizations.

The money could also pay for resources such as protective gear and emergency vehicles.

Gardiner will receive more than $333,000, Limestone will get $120,000 and Scarborough will receive more than $118,000.
