DRESDEN — The Lincoln County Historical Association has planned the 62nd annual observance of Memorial Day at 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the flag pole on the parade ground of the (1761) Pownalborough Court House. Masonic Chaplain Bruce Alexander, of Dresden, assisted by our local Rev. War Living History group, with camp followers and families, will lead the program of honor for the fallen soldiers.

After being called to order, the group will proceed up the woods road to the Court House cemetery where veteran soldiers of three wars will be remembered. The raising of Colors to full staff followed by a gun salute given by the Living Historians will follow at the flag pole.

The Court House will be open free to the public after the ceremony those interested in a tour.

Normal summer hours for the Pownalborough Court House are Memorial Day to Columbus Day: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, noon-4 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday in July and August. Admission cost $5 per adult, free for children younger than 16. For more information, visit www.lincolncountyhistory.org, or call Jay Robbins at 737-2239.
