A paving project on the Carter Memorial Bridge between Waterville and Winslow, and another on Abenaki Road over Messalonskee Stream, will begin Thursday and last until June 14, the state Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.

Crews will mill and pave the decks of the Carter bridge on Route 137, and there will be occasional alternating one-way traffic from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday until the work is done, the department said in a news release. Motorists should expect five- to 10-minute delays.

On the Abenaki Road bridge between Route 137 and Route 104, which is West River Road in Waterville, the traffic pattern and times will be similar.

Wide loads on both bridges will be restricted to 12 feet.

Crews will mill the pavement, repave it, then seal 3 feet of shoulders and repaint the centerlines, the release said.
