AUGUSTA — Crisis & Counseling Centers will offer a weekly family support group for individuals affected by substance abuse at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays, starting June 2, for 10-12 week at 10 Caldwell Road.

The goal of the free series is to engage participants in understanding the impacts of substance abuse upon families and relationships.

Participants can cover a range of key topics, considering them in the context of their own experiences with a loved one’s use of substances or efforts to establish a recovery process.

Topics will include understanding personal potential, the process of chemical dependency, factors for recovery and family intervention. The basics of family functioning and growth are also part of the curriculum, including related lessons in communication, setting boundaries, co-dependency, enabling and detachment.

Families are encouraged to attend this support group to learn and integrate a variety of skills that will help them better cope as an individual affected by substance abuse. A commitment to series attendance is requested.

To reserve a space, call Substance Abuse Manager Dan Pease at213-4515.
