WATERVILLE — Post 51 of Oakland scored two runs in each of the first two innings and then held on to defeat Coffee News of Bangor 4-3 in Zone 1 American Legion baseball Thursday.

Post 51 pitchers Dustin Brown and Dan Pooler combined to scatter nine Coffee News hits. Jonathan Wilkie led Post 51 (3-1) with a double and single.

BREWER 4, POST 16 3: Brewer scored a run in the top of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie and ultimately defeat Skowhegan Post 16 in Skowhegan.

Cody Laweryson led Post 16 with two hits, while Chase Malloy had a triple and RBI. Matt Pushard led Brewer with two hits and an RBI.

POST 16 9, POST 51 7: Dustin Crawford allowed three earned runs over seven innings and Evan Bess’ sacrifice fly gave Skowhegan Post 16 the lead for good in a win over Post 51 of Oakland on Wednesday.

Crawford struck out four while scattering nine hits and two walks over seven innings. He also teamed up with Adam Turcotte for three hits and three RBI. Jake Trask had an RBI double for Post 51.

BESSEY MOTORS 5, FRANKLIN COUNTRY 2: Tom Wing had three singles to help Franklin County out-hit Bessey Motors, 10-7, in a loss at Farmington.

Ryan Pratt and Ethan Andrews added two hits apiece for Franklin County (0-6). Brady Lafrance led Bessey (1-4) with a triple and two singles.

LIBBY-MITCHELL 9, SUMMIT GAS 0: Cam Seymour had three doubles to lead the offense for Libby-Mitchell as they cruised by Summit Gas in Zone 3 action at Yarmouth.

Wyatt Plummer added a pair of hits for Libby-Mitchell.

Joe DuFusco had a pair of hits for Summit Gas.

WELLS 9, NOBLE 2: Nick Cousins threw a complete game four-hitter, fanning 11 while walking four, as Wells pounded out 14 hits as they handled Noble in Zone 4 action at Wells.

Cousin also had a triple and a single to lead the offense, while Gary Andrew added a double and single, as six different Wells players recorded multiple hit games.

Jackson Vandenberg had a double for Noble.

YANKEE FORD 4, COASTAL LANDSCAPE 3: Henry Curran fanned 11 batters over five innings to lead Yankee Ford (4-0) over Coastal Landscape (3-1) in Zone 3 American Legion action in Portland.

Jared Brooks hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to lead Coastal Landscape. Ben Conti paced the Yankee Ford offense with a triple.

SACO & BIDDEFORD SAVINGS 9, STAPLES CROSSING 4: Nick Gallant pitched a complete-game, and Brady Cepeau hit a solo home run in the third inning to lead Saco & Biddeford Savings (5-1) over Staples Crossing (3-3) in Zone 4 action Kittery.

Gallant allowed four runs on six hits while striking out two, and Casey Twomey had two hits and three RBI for Saco & Biddeford Savings. Zach Hodges hit a two-run home run in the third inning to lead Staples Crossing.
