The death of a 32-year-old Greenville man involved in a rental property dispute is being investigated by Maine State Police.

George Bradford Woodbury III died Saturday evening, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

McCausland said police responded to an emergency call about a physical fight between two people at a camp on Burnt Jacket Road near Beaver Cove on Moosehead Lake in Greenville about 7 p.m. The police found Woodbury unresponsive. Efforts by emergency medical personnel to revive him were not successful and he died at the scene.

An autopsy will be conducted Monday at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, McCausland said.

He said a team of state police detectives have been in Greenville since the incident was reported and continued gathering evidence and conducting interviews Sunday. Greenville police and the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department are helping in the investigation.

McCausland said no charges have been filed and no arrests have been made. He said there is no threat to the public.

McCausland said the Maine Attorney General’s Office will decide if charges are warranted once the investigation is complete.

Police are not releasing the names of anyone else involved in the incident.
