A recount of ballots has confirmed that Dwight Keene was voted onto the Dresden Select Board during the state primary election on June 14.

The recount, which was held Monday evening at Pownalborough Hall, showed that Keene defeated incumbent one-term Selectman Gerald Lilly by a 149-138 vote, Dresden Town Clerk Pat Theriault said in an email. Those were the numbers that were initially reported on election night.

Both candidates agreed with the election recount totals, Theriault said.

Keene, 65, moved to Dresden in the mid-1980s from Bath, where he owned a convenience store. He defeated Lilly, who spent more than 40 years with the Dresden Fire Department before joining the Select Board in 2013.

The position pays $5,500, up $500 from last year. The raise was approved by voters during the Town Meeting on June 18.
