Sidney Historical Society’s next program is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Grange. Joe Ferrannini, a cemetery conservator, will share the techniques he recommends and his experiences.

He has worked with towns, historical societies, cemetery associations, and individuals to conserve historic gravestones and monuments.

He has owned his company, Gravestone Matters, for more than eight years. He serves as chairman of the Abandoned Cemetery Committee for the town of Pittstown, New York, as well as president of the Knickerbocker Historical Society, whose main mission is preservation of the 18th century Knickerbocker Mansion and family cemetery.

Ferrannini has led several workshops in Maine, sponsored by the Maine Old Cemetery Association, and is working this summer with the Sidney Cemetery Committee on the Field Cemetery.
