Maine State Police are looking for the driver of an SUV that pushed a car into a river in Alfred before leaving the scene.
Trooper Benjamin Smith was called to Swetts Bridge Road in Alfred shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday night by a man who said another driver hit his unoccupied car and pushed it into the Middle Branch of the Mousam River. The owner of the car told Smith that a large black SUV – similar to a Suburban – struck the car and immediately left the scene.
Police believe the SUV has front-end damage. Anyone with information is asked to call 657-3030 and ask for Trooper Benjamin Smith of Troop A.
