Cousins Garrett Parker Brown and Aaron Jacob Henry Montell, both of Gardiner Boy Scout Troop 672, sponsored by Christ Church Episcopal, shared an Eagle Court of Honor on June 5 in the old grand theater on the third floor of Johnson Hall in Gardiner.

Brown, at the time, was a junior at Cony High School and Montell, a sophomore at Gardiner Area High School.

Both Scouts had to earn 21 required merit badges plus several others and they had to have held leadership roles within the troop,

Brown’s Eagle Project was to oversee Johnson Hall’s reconfiguration of the stage lights of the little theater to accommodate the new stage. Aaron’s Eagle Project was to build three Little Free Libraries for the Gardiner Public Library. They were installed at the Gardiner Common, and Kennebec River Waterfront the third location yet to be determined.

Brown is the Troop’s current senior patrol leader and Montell is the assistant senior patrol leader.

Brown is the son of Karen Montell and Donald Brown, both of Gardiner.

Montell is the son of Susan Montell, also of Gardiner.

Both boys are grandsons of James Montell, of Gardiner, and the late Faye Montell. Brown also is a grandson of Fay Brown, formerly of Portland, and now of Delray Beach, Florida, and the late Louis Brown.

The family choose Johnson Hall as its location to showcase and bring awareness to the grand theater that it was in the past and with the future renovations plans scheduled, what it will once be again.
