STRATTON — The Dead River Area Historical Society will host Kenneth and Leora McLoughlin Churchill, of New Vineyard, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the museum at 150 Main St.

The McLoughlin Churchills own a photograph of the George Washington Bachelder Family which appears to be a photo of the 1993 Reunion of the Bachelder, Nile, Bubier and Flagg families. The photo will be displayed and Leora, a descendant of the Flagg family, can identify some of the people in it. Anyone doing genealogy will be interested in attending this program.

On display in the museum are artifacts, manuscripts and photographs that have been donated or loaned by interested townspeople and descendants of original families of the Dead River Region. Collections from 1850 on include old carpentry and logging tools, china, glass, church organ, furniture from native families, a complete schoolroom, a memorial room to the “lost” towns of Flagstaff and Dead River, the lineage of several native families, and a host of memorabilia from native homesteads.
