Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has gone too far, and we Americans must act now. Our respect, dignity and standing of the world’s perception is at stake.

Trump’s actions incite violence, hatred, bigotry and division among Americans. On multiple occasions, Trump has degraded women, referring to them as “fat pigs,” “dogs,” “slobs” and “disgusting animals.” He has made biased comments against Muslims, referring to the United States of having a “Muslim problem” with his solution for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” Then there was his most recent attack on the Khan family, the parents of Humayun Khan, who died a hero in the Iraq War, and his insinuation that Mrs. Khan may have “not been allowed to speak” because of her Muslim faith.

The list goes on and on.

Trump’s behavior is leading our nation on a clear path of destruction. We as a nation can do better than this. The Republican Party can do better than this. If there was ever a time when our country must take priority over partisan politics, it’s now.

Republicans need to set politics aside, stand up, and let their voices be heard. They must stop condoning the hateful rhetoric. Republicans should do the right thing and withdraw their support for a man who is clearly dividing us as a nation, jeopardizing our reputation among other nations.

I urge people to call their local Republican senators and representatives and demand that they withdraw their support for Donald Trump.

America is already great and we need to keep it that way.
