Maine State Police are investigating the recent vandalism of 15 to 20 mailboxes in Manchester, according to a Monday post on the agency’s Instagram account.

The post includes a photo of the baseball bat that troopers believe was used in the vandalism. The wooden bat is snapped in two and has black electric tape wrapped around both ends.

The bat also includes two markings in what appears to be red ink. One is the stylish “W” that’s used as a logo by the rap group Wu-Tang Clan.

Also written on the bat are the words “Bear Jew.” According police, that could be a reference to a character in the 2009 film “Inglourious Basterds,” about a team of Jewish-American soldiers in World War II.

No other information was immediately available about the time and location of the vandalism or where the broken baseball bat was found.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Trooper J.P. Lacoste at 624-7076.
