When they make a movie of a story that takes place in Maine, such as a Stephen King novel, the film is shot in Canada, sometimes Massachusetts.
Why? Because some birdbrains decided that Maine wasn’t going to give moviemakers any break on taxes.
So, what do we get from Hollywood? Nothing. They go elsewhere. No revenue and no income for Maine businesses — hotels, restaurants, equipment providers and citizens who could make some money as extras in a movie.
Brilliant, huh?
But yeah, them there movie people don’t get to make no movies here without paying our taxes — duh.
