HALLOWELL — A Candlelight Vigil of Remembrance, Hope and Healing is planned for 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Hallowell’s Waterfront Park. The event is sponsored by Cox Memorial United Methodist Church.

While the gathering is being held on the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, members of the community are welcome to gather in recognition of the many acts of violence based in fear that have filled the news in the past year as we affirm the human spirit of hope and healing we share in common.

The gathering is being held with sensitivity to all faiths and will include litanies and responsive prayers of remembrance, hope and healing as well as music. Candles for the vigil will be provided. In the event of rain, the gathering will be held at Cox Memorial UMC at the corner of Middle and Central streets.
