Oakland police on Monday continued to investigate a motorcycle accident that seriously injured a Waterville man just after midnight Sunday morning.

Sgt. Tracey Frost, of the Oakland Police Department, said the rider, Michael Klaiber, 33, was found unconscious by the side of the road a couple of feet from the motorcycle on Snow Pond Road. Frost said a passerby saw the motorcycle off the road and went to investigate.

Frost said Klaiber suffered serious external injuries that were possibly life threatening.

By Monday, the investigation had not turned up any information on what caused the accident, if speed may have been a factor in the crash or if any other vehicle may have been involved.

Frost didn’t immediately know whether Klaiber was wearing a helmet and if the man was being treated at a hospital.
