A Vienna woman was killed and her three-year-old daughter was injured when the crew cab pickup truck she was driving crashed on Tower Road in Vienna at about 3:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Maine State Police Cpl. Diane Vance said the crash is under investigation, but speed appears to be a factor. In addition, the section of Tower Road where the crash happened curves and is on a hill, she said.

The truck rolled several times and came to rest upside down, mostly off the road.

Misty McKechnie, 36, was ejected from the vehicle. Vance said she was not wearing a seatbelt.

Vance said the child, who she declined to name, was secured in a carseat in the rear of the passenger area. A passerby was able to pull the child out of the vehicle. She was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

A Lifeflight helicopter initially was requested, then canceled.

Vance said Tower Road was shut down for three hours, reopening around 6:30 p.m. Fire and rescue crews from Vienna, Mount Vernon and Winthrop responded to the crash.

Tower Road was the site of another fatal crash. In February 2013, a Farmington Falls woman died after her car crashed off the road. Vance, who responded to that crash as well, said it took place just a few miles up the road from Wednesday’s crash site.
