New England quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is not expected to be in uniform Thursday evening when the Patriots play host to the Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium, according to media reports.

That means rookie Jacoby Brissett will start at quarterback for the Patriots (2-0). Brissett saw his first NFL action Sunday when he entered late in the first half after Garappolo suffered an arm injury versus Miami. Brissett completed 6 of 9 passes for 92 yards in the Patriots’ 31-24 win.

Garoppolo started the Patriots’ first two games while Tom Brady has been serving his four-game suspension. The Patriots have no other quarterback on their roster, leaving wide receiver Julian Edelman as an emergency backup for Brissett.
