WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — John Baron kicked a 19-yard field goal with four seconds left in regulation as the Colby College football team opened its season with a 9-7 victory over Williams College on Saturday.

Williams scored a touchdown with 1:46 left in the fourth quarter to take a 7-6 lead before Colby (1-0) bounced back.

The Mules started the game-winning drive from their own 44-yard line. After three consecutive incomplete passes, quarterback Jack O’Brien hit Ryder Arsenault for 13 yards on fourth down to extend the drive. The Mules reached the 2-yard line — nearly scoring a touchdown with under 10 seconds left — before going for the game-winning kick.

O’Brien, a freshman, threw for 102 yards while Jabari Hurdle-Price rushed for 87 yards and caught four passes for 21 yards.

Colby returns home next Saturday to play Middlebury.
