AUGUSTA — The Viles Arboretum Sculpture Symposium will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the week of Monday, Oct. 3, through Saturday, Oct. 8, at the arboretum, 153 Hospital St.

Artists will be working on their sculptures, participants will have ample opportunity to observe their work, talk with the artists and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Arboretum. There will be school groups participating and creating their own art pieces under the tutelage of Anne Alexander.

A closing reception is set for 4-7 p.m. Saturday under the big tent with food, refreshments, student art on display, music and good words.

In addition to the larger pieces on display, there will be smaller more affordable stone sculptures for consideration.

Featured artists are: Lise Becu, Isabel Kelley, Paul Kozak, Gerry Hoff, David Sywalski, Dan Ucci, Andreas von Huene, Miles Chapin, David Randall, Anne Alexander, Mark Herrington and Richard Alden.
