AUGUSTA — Theresa Kerchner of the Kennebec Land Trust will discuss the recent acquisition of the Howard Hill property at noon Thursday, Nov. 3, in the Community Room of Lithgow Library, 45 Winthrop St.

The free event is the library’s third Brown Bag Lunch.

According to a release from the library, Howard Hill is a scenic parcel of 164 acres that provide a wooded backdrop to the State House tucked between otherwise largely developed areas of Augusta and Hallowell.

This undeveloped property, accessible from a number of informal access points in Augusta, could provide and protect recreational opportunities, scenic views and wildlife habitat a short walk from the urban areas of both Augusta and Hallowell. It also provides an unspoiled backdrop of trees behind the State House.
