WATERVILLE — The 52nd annual Waterville Rotary Radio Auction with gifts, services and discounts will be sold on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and Thursday, Dec. 1, as a part of the Waterville Rotary Club’s Annual Radio Auction on Mix 107.9. Tune in to Mix 107.9 to bid from 6 to 9 p.m., call 680-BUY1 or 680-2891 to register or bid on an item.

Proceeds from 2016 Rotary Radio Auction will go to support more community programs and initiatives as well. This year, Waterville Rotary will work and collaborate with other organizations and citizens to expand Rhoda Reads, an early childhood literacy program developed in the club, provide fire alarms and increased fire danger awareness to area homes through a partnership with local schools, help fund a three-year clean water project in Nicaragua, work toward the Rotary Centennial Kennebec River Walk at Head of Falls, and many other local initiatives aimed to improve the communities in which we all live and work.

Once again auctioneers, Mix 107.9 radio disc jockeys, and Rotary members will broadcast live from Central Maine Auto Group. Call 680-BUY1 or 680-2891 to register or to offer a pre-bid on terrific “Pre-Bid Items” on the Tuesday prior to the auction. Featured items include an iWatch, graduate/continuing education tuition at Thomas College, heating oil, a Kennebec River rafting trip for two, landscaping packages, numerous gift certificates to local restaurants and more.

The Waterville Rotary Club hosts the auction each year in late November to benefit what Rotarians determine to be among the worthiest causes of the region. Every year, for more than half a century, this important community event has raised money to meet area needs. Projects such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at MaineGeneral Medical Center’s new regional hospital, the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, Inland Hospital, High Hopes Clubhouse, the Rotary Centennial Trail, The Muskie Center, local community food banks, the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter, area youth scholarships, and camperships for children are all included in Rotary’s efforts to make a difference in the community.
