Well, Donald Trump has failed to lose. He certainly tried hard, outrageously bragging, lying, and bullying his way along. Nevertheless, he failed. Now we learn that he didn’t expect to win, but nevertheless he did. He just couldn’t overcome Hillary’s staggering unpopularity combined with our Electoral College system, which together allowed her to lose despite gaining the popular count by over 2 million votes.

So now the Donald is stuck with having to spend the next four years trying to govern the nation while living in that stodgy old White House. No more Trump Tower suites. Well, maybe on trips, with us footing the bill.

Furthermore, we learn as a fact — yes, the word “fact” still exists, though in a severely weakened state — that Trump, expecting to lose, made hardly any plans for his transition team regarding filling the 4,000 administrative positions in the federal government. Now that’s no way to run a business. Wake up, smarty.

Sometimes I’ve wondered if Trump wasn’t just having an enjoyable ego trip and messing with our heads, but now he’s definitely going to need to get serious, and for the sake of the nation and the world I hope for the best. He has won. That’s that. And if he has any regrets, it’s clear that he can’t make a deal to get cut loose with dignity.

But come to think of it, he’s a smart guy and if things get too difficult I’m sure he might figure out a way to get himself impeached and claim it was rigged. It’s certainly going to be interesting.
