The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of stealing several items from the Chesterville Corner Store on Dutch Gap Road.

The man, who appeared to be in his late 40s or early 50s, was seen wearing a red-and-green ball cap, a leather jacket, bluejeans and white shoes, according to a sheriff’s office release.

Police went to the store on Monday and learned that the theft had occurred around 5:45 p.m. Saturday. The man, who said he was staying in the Eustis area, stole several items, including a flashlight, cans of tuna, a toothbrush, bottles of water, soap and coffee, according to the sheriff’s office. In addition, police said the man appeared to leave in a gold-colored Chrysler with Florida licence plates.

The sheriff’s office asked that anyone with information on the suspected thief call 778-2680.
