A lot of good people with good judgment and values would write to the opinion page but the backlash is horrible. People need to realize we don’t all have to agree, but do we have to react with hate and hurtful statements?
If we keep a teachable spirit we might be surprised what we learn. Most of us love our county but, if not, you should plan to leave, so we can all be happy.
Now I’m gonna upset you — my thanks to Harold Bigelow of Skowhegan (letter, “After Obama, finally proud to be American,” Jan. 31) for the truths you mentioned — yes — let’s hear it “America First”!
