AUGUSTA — Capital Area Technical Center has announced its January Students of the Month, according to a news release from the center.

Mackenzie Guerin is a Winthrop High School junior enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program. Her clinical experiences have taken her to Maine Veterans’ Home and Augusta Rehabilitation Center. Her instructor, Bethany Sherman said, “Mackenzie is great student and will make a great addition to the medical field,” according to the release.

When she is not in school, Guerin works at China Empress and competes with the Diamond Cheer Athletics team. She plans to pursue further education and enter the natural medicine field.

Andrew Coulombe is a Maranacook Community High School senior enrolled in the Automotive Technology program for the second year.

He recently won the SkillsUSA Auto Service Technician competition at the technical center and will travel to Bangor in March to compete in the State SkillsUSA competition. His instructor, Keith Hart, said “Andrew will always go out of his way to help someone and is always trying to better himself, which are great traits for success in the auto tech field,” according to the release.

Coulombe works as a mechanic at Scotty’s Garage in Mount Vernon. In the fall, he plans to continue his education in automotive technology.
