My suggested response to Donald Trump’s travel ban for seven Muslim countries is to ask for people all over the United States to start making patchwork quilt flags. Children in school, church groups, women’s sewing circles, male knitters, neighborhoods and communities all across the country can begin to make flags, with each person bringing their own personal pieces of red, white or blue to “weave” into the fabric of each patchwork flag.
This is who we are, immigrants all, except for our Native American brothers and sisters. magine thousands of handmade American Flags proudly hung in school classrooms, at private homes, and in public places, all celebrating and acknowledging our creativity and what we do and must practice every day, making one people out of many.
