Are we really going to sell our parking lot to Colby College to build a dormitory for 200 students? This will take away parking for library patrons and shoppers, and make parking for the elderly a nightmare. Also, with a new company moving to downtown there will be even more people needing to park.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s fantastic that Colby is investing in Waterville and that CGI is bring more jobs. But I question why we are taking away Concourse parking when we have the perfect place to build a dorm at the Head of the Falls, and there is plenty of room for a dorm and parking for the students, as well as green space for them to enjoy.

Years ago our city leaders sold property at the south end of the city for less than it was worth, causing one councilor to comment, “If Jesse James came to town with a bag full of money, Waterville would sell him anything he wanted.” Well it seams that Jesse is back.
