University of Southern Maine wrestler Daniel Del Gallo, a Gardiner Area High School graduate, qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament for the third conseuctive year.
Del Gallo, a senior, finished second in the 149-pound weight class at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at Roger Williams University on Sunday. His major decision win (15-4) over WPI’s Tyler Marsh in the championship semifinals secured Del Gallo a spot in the NCAA tournament. Del Gallo was pinned by Sam Schneider of Ithaca in the championship match.
The NCAA National Tournament starts March 10 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
