Turn the Lights Teal is a month-long initiative of the Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center to promote awareness and community support for survivors of sexual violence. The goal of the organization is to turn local businesses and communities teal in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

In Maine, one in five people will experience sexual violence in their lifetime. What if one in five houses were broken into or one in five children were abducted? Would you be outraged? The organization asks community members to turn the outrage into action, according to a news release from the organization.
