A 24-year-old skateboarder struck by a car in Gorham on Tuesday is in fair condition at Maine Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.
Police identified the victim as Tyler Cartwright, 24, of South Portland, who was struck Tuesday evening on New Portland Road and taken to the hospital in Portland with serious injuries.
The driver, Ramon Saravia, 77, of East Waterboro, struck Cartwright around 9 p.m. in the vicinity of 267 New Portland Road.
A preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors, and Gorham police said it appeared that Cartwright was riding his board in the middle of Saravia’s travel lane.
The crash remains under investigation.
