WINTHROP — The Ramblers put in a little overtime Thursday.

Jackson Ladd singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning, leading No. 2 Winthrop to a 2-1 win over No. 7 St. Dominic in a Class C South baseball quarterfinal. Winthrop hosts Monmouth in a regional semifinal at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Greg Fay pitched the 10th to earn the win for Winthrop (11-6) after starter Jacob Hickey held the Saints to just five hits. Ladd came up with two outs and two men on to deliver the game-winning hit.

St. Dom’s (10-8) scored in the top of the seventh to force extra innings.

RICHMOND 26, FOREST HILLS 4: The No. 2 Bobcats scored 16 runs in the first inning on the way to the Class D South quarterfinal win in Richmond.

Richmond (15-2) added eight runs in the second inning. Brendan Emmons and Dan Stewart doubled for the Bobcats, who pounded out 17 hits. Zach Small tripled for Richmond.

No. 7 Forest Hills ends the season at 5-9.

SOFTBALL

MONMOUTH 5, SACOPEE 4: Sophomore Mariah Herr had two singles and an RBI to lead the No. 3 Mustangs in a Class C South quarterfinal.

Junior Emily Chasse pitched a complete game to earn the victory for Monmouth (13-4), which will play at No. 2 Winthrop in a regional semifinal Saturday at 11 a.m.

Rhiannon Dumond made a game-saving catch in right field with two runners on base to end the game.

Sacopee finished 12-5.
