The Waterville Elks Lodge 905 recently made a $406.75 donation to Operation Hope with the proceeds from its annual Sportsman’s Night. Operation Hope stands for Heroin Opiate Prevention Effort, instituted in January by the Waterville Police Department.

Each year the committee selects a local charity from a line item from its Sportsman’s Night event.

This WPD project that partnered with the Police Assisted Addiction Recovery Initiative to provide residential treatment for those who want to get help, fits right in with the lodge’s philosophy. Other partners include the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, MaineGeneral Health, Healthy Northern Kennebec and the Discovery House of Central Maine, which is a program of Acadia Healthcare.

After the check presentation attendees sat and talked about what the project does and how it has helped 13 people to get the assistance they needed since the program began.
