Regional School Unit 74, which includes Anson, North Anson, Solon, Embden and New Portland, coordinates a Summer Food Service Program which includes breakfast and lunch. Meals are served on scheduled days at the Carrabec High School, Carrabec Community School, Garret Schenck and Solon elementary schools. The program provides free meals for town recreation programs, summer school students and various day and week-long camp activities held at the schools and through out the communities.

The program also services sites located in the School Administrative District 59. Meals will be served at Madison Elementary School, Madison Junior High School and the Madison Main Street Park, to name a few.

All children can receive a breakfast and/or lunch at no charge.

Carrabec High School, 160 North Main St., North Anson: June 22-23, Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. breakfast; 11:30 am.-noon lunch; June 26-30, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. breakfast, 11:30 a.m.-noon lunch.

Carrabec Community School, 56 North Main St., North Anson: June 26-29, Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. breakfast, 11:30 a.m.-noon lunch; July 5-27, Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. breakfast, 11:30 a.m.-noon lunch; July 31-Aug. 10, Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. breakfast, 11:30 a.m.-noon lunch.

Solon Elementary School, 76 South Main St., Solon: July 10-27, Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. breakfast, 11:30 a.m.-noon lunch; July 31-Aug. 3, Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. breakfast, 11:30 a.m. lunch.

To serve children in such rural areas, coordination is required between summer school staff, town officials, church leaders and community program volunteers. Reaching more families and children is always the goal and organizers are available to discuss serving free meals to children with any group or program.
