Alternative Organizational Structure 92 (Vassalboro, Waterville and Winslow) will sponsor a free summer meals program for children from June 26 through Aug. 18.

This year the kick off will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 26, at George J. Mitchell School, 58 Drummond Ave. in Waterville.

Organizers will host a “Pirate Party” with fish ‘n’ chips, cannonball subs, seashell pasta salad, and a smorgasbord of tropical fruits and vegetables to promote healthy eating. The event will feature games, the fire department will bring its smoke house to promote fire safety, the police department will provide bike safety tips and members from Delta Ambulance will give tours of an ambulance and encourage summer safety as well, and staff volunteers will be in costume to promote healthy eating.

The summer meals program will be available to all children 18 years and younger without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability. Meals will be available Monday through Friday, June 26 through Aug. 18, expect July 4, at the following sites and times:

Winslow Elementary School, breakfast 8-10:30 a.m., lunch 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Vassalboro Community School, breakfast 8-9 a.m., lunch 11-11:25 pm.

Halifax Street Playground, lunch 11:50 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

Clinton Avenue Playground, lunch 12:15-12:35 p.m.
