We live on Danielle Avenue in Benton. Danielle Avenue connects to two other streets, Andrea and Booker. This is a very nice, quiet residential neighborhood. Kids play and ride their bikes around the neighborhood. People walk this neighborhood, often with their dogs and kids. There is an elderly gentleman who uses a cane and takes a daily walk. There are several child care homes on these streets.

Despite all this, people who drive on these street — many of them residents of the neighborhood — feel that driving 35 to 40-plus mph is OK. They drive way too fast, and I cringe every time I see a car speed by, and only hope that there is no one walking, riding a bike, or that a child doesn’t run into the road.

So please, next time you drive into our neighborhood, please be mindful of your speed. Slow down! Thank you.
