HALLOWELL — Abe Goodale, of Camden, and Liza Stratton, of South Portland, tied for the People’s Choice Award by popular vote at the conclusion of Art2017 at Harlow Gallery in Hallowell. Gallery visitors were invited to vote for their favorite work of art during the gallery’s 22nd annual juried art show on view May 12 through June 24.

Veterinarian Judith Herman, owner of the Animal Wellness Center in Augusta, generously donated another $100 so that both Goodale and Stratton received a $100 cash prize. Goodale won the popular vote for his watercolor titled “Islander” and Stratton for her mixed media sculpture titled “freedom.” Goodale and Stratton also were awarded Honorable Mentions for their pieces at the opening of Art2017 on May 12.

The Harlow Gallery, located in downtown historic Hallowell, is home to the Kennebec Valley Art Association, a membership based 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to connecting and celebrating art, artists and community in central Maine since 1963.
