TRUMBULL, Conn. — The Augusta 14U Babe Ruth All-Stars got off to an ideal start in the New England Regional Tournament, defeating Rhode Island 11-3 in the first game of pool play on Friday morning.

Akira Warren struck out three in 2 1/3 innings and also had two hits and two runs batted in for the Maine representative, which went up 9-0 before Rhode Island finally got on the board.

Riley Geyer led Augusta with three RBI, while Kyle Douin had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Augusta will play host Trumbull Saturday at 7 p.m. before finishing pool play against Keene, New Hampshire on Sunday at 1 p.m.
