New York was leading Boston 2-1 Sunday night and things were looking good for Yankees fans. Former Sea Dog Rafael Devers – who played in Portland as recently as June – faced an 0-2 count against Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning when the dynamics changed.
Chapman unleashed a 102.8 mph fastball and Devers tagged it, drilling a solo home run over the centerfield fence to tie the game. This fan’s reaction sums it up nicely:
Sneak peak to tonights reaction. #Chapman vs devers 2 strikes 1 out.. the stadium as electric as its been all year until….#yankees #RedSox pic.twitter.com/DEy83luDNN

And there’s a little icing on the cake for Sea Dogs fans: Andrew Benintendi, who played with Portland last season, hit the game-winning single in the 10th inning.
