WISCASSET — Wiscasset guide Cathy Messmer will give a special talk and tour of Castle Tucker focused on food and cooking from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23. Find out how young wife and mother Mollie Tucker prepared meals in her 19th-century kitchen. See the recipes, ingredients and tools she used to feed her family and cook for holidays and special occasions, along with examples of long-forgotten Victorian tableware. Taste a sample of biscuits made from Mollie’s recipe.

Admission includes a full tour of the house after the program. Castle Tucker is located at 2 Lee St., in Wiscasset. Admission is $10 for Historic New England members and $15 for nonmembers. Advance purchase is required. Space is limited. Call 882-7169 or buy online at shop.historicnewengland.org.

Castle Tucker is open Wednesday through Sunday until Oct. 15, with regular guided tours on the half hour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
