The Fourth annual Union Fair Youth Market Auction will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at the Union Fairgrounds.

Eighteen hardworking youth from around the state will bring steers, lambs, meat birds and laying hens to the live auction. These kids have worked hard day and night feeding, cleaning, walking and caring for these animals. They have learned not only how to feed and show an animal, they also are learning responsibility, time management and how to market their animals. For many this is their summer job, while others are holding down summer jobs as well as raising their animal. Many will use the money from their projects to invest in next years project or save for their future education.

On Sunday, Aug. 20, at 4 p.m., the market show will take place. This is an opportunity for potential buyers to come and watch the animals and the youth. There will be a buyers’ reception at 6 p.m. Monday. Aug. 21, at the fairgrounds, where this is a chance to meet and talk with the youth about their animals. The auction will follow at 6:30 p.m.
