Dr. Peter B. Laliberte, of Smile Solutions, with offices in Waterville and Winthrop, plans to transition from chair side to consultant in the coming weeks.

More than 40 years ago, after graduating from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry and completing the general practice specialty program at Eastman Dental Center, Laliberte opened Esthetic and Reconstructive Dentistry at 141 Silver St., Waterville, with one employee. As the patient-base expanded, he relocated in 1984 to the historical Stanley Marr building, circa 1925, which has undergone numerous renovations and expansions. Subsequent to the relocation, Laliberte has partnered with three other dentists: Dr. Jay Wietecha in 2001, Dr. Peter Vayanos in 2010 and Dr. Joseph Dumont in 2017 and has served as a mentor to his colleagues. An additional location under the name Cosmetic and General Dentistry was established 10 years ago in Winthrop. The businesses merged as Smile Solutions LLC last year and employs more than 20 staff members.

Throughout his career, Laliberte has served in various capacities for local, state and national organizations: Chamber of Commerce, Catholic Charities, Kennebec Valley Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Executive Council of the Maine Dental Association, Maine Academy of General Dentistry, Kennebec Valley Dental Society, Special Olympics and others. He has performed humanitarian services traveling to Honduras numerous times to deliver extensive dental care and education to a vast indigent population.

Laliberte has received notable awards and recognition. He is a Tufts honors graduate and a recipient of the International College of Dentistry Award for outstanding achievement. He holds a master’s degree from the Academy of General Dentistry and attained a Fellowship in the International College of Implantology.

Laliberte plans to spend more time with his future wife Jane, family members and friends, as well as travel.
