PITTSFIELD — The Maine Central Institute got a pair of touchdowns in the second half to take a 12-0 Class C North win over the Warriors in Pittsfield.

Andrew Whitaker had a touchdown run in the third quarter and Adam Bertrand added a score in the fourth for MCI (1-1). Both Whitaker and Bertand ran for just over 100 yards.

Seth Bussell and Bertrand each had 10 tackles to lead the MCI defense in the shutout. Bussell also had two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Nokomis dropped to 1-1 with the loss.

MADISON 51, DIRIGO 6: Not even an hour long lighning delay could slow the Bulldogs, who rolled to the Campbell Conference Class D win at Rudman Field in Madison.

Sean Whalen ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns for Madison (2-0), and also returned a punt 65 yards for a score. Madison quarterback Evan Bess ran for 90 yards and two touchdowns, and completed 4 of 6 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Eric Wescott added 30 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Zach Belanger had two catches for 50 yards and a score.

Dirigo is now 1-1.

WATERVILLE 14, MEDOMAK VALLEY 0: Waterville improved to 2-0 with the Class C North win in Waldoboro.

Chase Wheeler scored on a 12-yard run for Waterville, and Nick Wildhaber added a 1-yard touchdown run. Medomak Valley dropped to 1-1.
