A Readfield history walk is planned from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 29, through the Rosmarin and Saunders Family Forest. Those who plan to attend should meet at Saunders Manufacturing on Nickerson Hill Road.

Walkers can learn about the history of the Saunders family, the origin of the property and the business they started 70 years ago on Nickerson Hill Road. From there participants will proceed to the Rosmarin and Saunders Family Forest further west on Nickerson Hill Road.

The 342-acre property, which was once part of Saunders Manufacturing land holdings, was donated to the Kennebec Land Trust in 2016.

Walkers can exploring some of the trail together. The ground is somewhat uneven, so wear sturdy shoes and a walking stick is recommended.
