SeniorsPlus recently was warded a Workplace Wellness Mini-Grant from Healthy Androscoggin and the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. The grant will support a joint mission of creating healthier communities and enhancing quality of life, Healthy Androscoggin and the chamber offered Androscoggin County businesses and organizations the opportunity to apply for a mini-grant to support a workplace wellness initiative, according to a SeniorsPlus news release.

Applications were evaluated on program description and structure, program successes, future goals, sustainability and an explanation on how they would use the funding. Grant awards were available in the $200-$500 range. SeniorsPlus was presented their award at Healthy Androscoggin’s Annual Meeting held Nov. 2 at the Auburn Public Library.

SeniorsPlus will use its award to help support the cost of mind/body/wellness coaching and/or wellness programs for the staff.

Established in 1972 and headquartered in Lewiston, SeniorsPlus is the Western Maine designated Agency on Aging covering Franklin, Oxford and Androscoggin counties. Its mission is to enrich the lives of older adults and adults with disabilities and its overall program goal is to assist these individuals to remain safely at home for as long as possible. SeniorsPlus believes in supporting the independence, dignity and quality of life of the 12,000 individuals it serves annually. Its Meals on Wheels program alone serves almost 100,000 meals annually to almost 800 people.
