Lt. Scott A. Holst and the Consolidated Firefighters of Waterville recently raised $8,000 for a firefighters memorial that displays the names of firefighters who died in the line of duty or while they were an active member of the department. This monument now stands in front of the fire station.
They also raised money for a historical plaque for the front wall of the Old Central Fire Station. The history of the old station is engraved on the plaque. After a year of raising $1,500, and with the help of Waterville Public Works, this historical maker now is a fixture on the old fire station.
The projects were made possible by the following businesses: GHM Insurance, Central Maine Auto Group, American Legion, Silver Street Tavern, Maine State Credit Union, Joseph Fireside, City of Waterville, Career Firefighters of Waterville and many private donations.
